Progress Report - Ready for a Party?

From the desk of the Groom :

Yes we'll I'm on holidays and we're tying up the loose ends over the coming weeks.

If you have booked flights or driving up or whatever please email so we can make arrangements to get people from the airport (if possible)

One of our indulgences has been "The Band"! No - this is not James Packer's wedding - in fact - Buzz and I are just your ordinary Aussie battlers BUT we have a huge announcement *drum roll* Dubdoubt will be playing at our weddng!!!! They're one of the funkiest bands in Bris vegas these days. They suit our style and the vibe of the wedding and I came across them a few years back when working on Triple Zed radio. Check them out! Buy their CD! Go see them!

Look forward to hearing from you guys soon

Aaaarggh!!! Five months to go!!!!!

Time is passing way too fast!!! Buzz has graduated from uni and starts a great new job in January. She's managed to find a dress for both her and Steph. But just to add a bit more tension to the build up to the big day -we're going to Africa in Dec/Jan to visit my sister and family! However, everything seems to be in place - we just need to find someone willing to actually perform the ceremony on the beach at Montes (minor technicality). Stay tuned and stay in touch.

Save the date!

We sent out these 'Date Claimers' (not invitations) last week to our wedding guests. We're really limited on space at Montes and so can't invite everyone we would like but I guess that's always an issue when organising a wedding. Almost all guests will have to sleep at the resort (we may even need tents yet) with some of the catering staff having to bunk down at the Dingo Beach hotel later that night (plastic palm tree, awkward-sitting dog and all - see previous post).
Details on accommodation will follow. Don't forget to see the flight times below.
P.s. please post something so i feel as though I'm not alone out there!

Music for the Wedding...

Music is important to Buzz and I. We don't want the 'wedding singer' and we don't want a dj whose just going to do the Rick Dee's weekly Top 40 countdown on the night. We want music thats suits us and suits the 'vibe' of our wedding, so we're currently trying to pin down our music of choice (which could mean a cool dj or band- stay tuned for an exciting announcement!).

The Quest for THE Dress!

Buzz is dress hunting this week. In some ways I'm glad that the groom doesn't get to see it until the big day (shopping is not one of my favourite past times). I'm guessing its NOT going to look like the one above. Good luck, sweetheart!

Hi folks! Welcome! Scroll down for flight info

QLD - Beautiful One Day, Plastic the Next!

Just what every tropical pub needs - a plastic coconut palm tree! We came across this at the Dingo Beach pub (which is just around the corner from Montes). I guess it was one of those ideas where someone thought "that'll take off !- everyone will want one!". (Only one person in North Queensland it seems...) It has to be up there with selling fridges to eskimoes!

More Montes Photos!

Photos don't really do the place justice but here are a few more of Montes.

How's the serenity?
Throw in about 60 people, a few cartons of beer, a wedding ceremony and reception into the picture and it should add up to an unforgettable weekend!

Save the Date & Book your flights!

So we're sending out 'Save the Date' cards this week to those people who are invited to the wedding!(Sorry we would love to have everyone but we can only fit in a limited number)

This is the itinerary:
Everyone will arrive on Friday arvo flying in to Whitsunday Coast (Prosperpine airport)

Book either
Jetstar
Brisbane to Whitsunday Coast
12:55 14:35 JQ830

or
Virgin Blue (This is the preferred flight so we all get there nice and early!)
10:35 am Brisbane 12:15 Whitsunday Coast
DJ1115

We will organise a bus transfer for everyone to take everyone across to Montes. It will take about 30 mins to get there.

On Sunday afternoon these are the flights you should get:

Virgin Blue
12:45 Whitsunday Coast 14:10 Brisbane -->
DJ1114

Jetstar
Whitsunday Coast to Brisbane
15:05 16:25 JQ833
We'll organise a bus to get everyone back to the airport by 2.30pm. HOWEVER, there may be a recovery party in Airlie on the Sunday night, so if you think you'd be still up for it, book a Monday flight.

Montes - Here we come!

This is where we're having our wedding - Montes Reef Resort, Gloucestor Passage, Nth Qld.

It's a small resort with 'loads of character' on the northern side of Hydeaway Bay and Dingo Beach.

Lock it in, Eddie!!!!

We've just got back from Montes and we now have a venue 'locked in' for ceremony, reception, and an all round good weekend!!! I'll post some photos up. List flights that you should book ASAP! We're sending out Date claimers this week -so look out!

Wedding Reconnaisance Mission

In the Army, they used to say " time in reconnaisance is seldom wasted" and hopefully this will be true.

The 15 June is Nambour Show Day on the Sunshine Coast, so instead of eating dagwood dogs and watching fat hairy men chop wood, we're going to do a 'hit and run' reconnaisance mission to the Whitsunday Coast for our wedding! Our criteria are:
  1. Must have beach close by

  2. Must have an ice cold, well-stocked bar

  3. Must have 'massif' sound system and good music

  4. Some food

  5. Somewhere to sleep

Will post our findings and some pics as soon as we get back!

Peace

D

Wedding Venue

Once we've got over Blues and Roots we're going to go on a Reconnaisance mission for the wedding venue on the Whitsunday Coast. This will most likely take place in June after our good mates' ( Wheato and Mez) wedding. Then we can announce to the world the date and times for the big day so y'all can book flights, beg the boss for time off, or quit your jobs because this is one shin dig in NQ you don't wanna miss!!!!

Hangover gone - what next?

Well now that we've recovered from March 17th, (it was always going to be a big one when you combine 120 people, an engagement party on St Paddy's day and a large volume of free alcohol), I thought that I'd start a blog for Buzz and I in the lead- up to our wedding (*nervous shudder*) next year. It looks as though we'll have it on the Whitsunday Coast and it will be a bit of a logistical 'challenge' to get everyone there on planes, trains and automobiles and make sure we have enough accommodation booked -so fasten your seatbelts, for the ride of your life as we approach the big day!!!

Engagement Party: Messy but Good!

Well the Engagement party went off with a bang last Saturday night in Caloundra. People started pouring in right from the start and Buzz and I were completely overwhelmed with gifts and well wishes! Whilst the food was ordinary and very scarce (doh!), the alcohol flowed freely and put everyone in the right mood - inebriated! The speeches went over a treat and after this official business was done - it was time to celebrate! Woohoo! Thanks to everyone who came. Here's a few photos (Careful - there is some nudity)
